How to contact HerculaneuminPictures

Who are we?

We are a retired husband and wife team, Jackie and Bob Dunn based in the UK.

Herculaneum/Ercolano and Pompeii have always intrigued Jackie. She first went there in her teens. Having read many books on the ancient cities, she had found it most confusing when, for example two different books gave a differing location for the same property.  Many of the books only contained photos of the same well visited houses.  None showed the smaller homes and houses, which seemed ignored but just as interesting.  With husband Bob as photographer and web site developer we have built a photographic record indicating all the doorways of houses, shops, temples, workshops, bars and ancient pubs as a way to clear the mystery once and for all and provide a solid base for students, teachers, authors, museums, researchers and all to use for reference.

We will continue to update the site with more photographs from our trips to Herculaneum and from our collaborators.  We are also interested in your photographs, paintings and old postcards if they add something different. We would welcome any material from Museums around the world as well as any old photographs. Our aim in this respect is to relocate items with their original home, electronically only of course. Don't worry if you cannot identify the location in your photograph as we have become quite expert in identifying which property it came from.

In using this site you can see Herculaneum as it really is and explore parts that are closed to the public.  We are sure you will enjoy your virtual trip to Herculaneum.
